The aim of our study ussam to evaluate the consideration of pain by paramedical staff. We proposed a questionnaire to the nurses working in two general surgery departments and in a postoperative intensive care unit.

Three topics were studied: All nurses were convinced that laparoscopy improves postoperative comfort. No preoperative psychological preparation was practiced by our nurses.

No scale was used for the measurement of pain.

One out of three nurses took the liberty of administrating analgesic without medical prescription. For nurses, the workload and the unavailability of doctors represent the main difficulty encountered in the management of pain. Our study shows that nurses are aware of the importance of postoperative pain management; their medical knowledge about pain is limited and their attitude within haiji medical team is not structured and lacks professionalism.
